Author Guidelines

Author Guidelines

Authors are invited to submit original scientific manuscripts to the international peer-reviewed journal Problems of Tribology. The journal publishes research articles and review papers addressing fundamental and applied problems of friction, wear, lubrication, contact mechanics, surface engineering, tribological materials, and the reliability of mechanical systems.

All submitted manuscripts undergo an initial editorial assessment to determine their relevance to the aims and scope of the journal, scientific originality, technical quality, and compliance with the journal's publication requirements. Manuscripts that meet these criteria are considered for peer review.

1. General Requirements

Manuscripts submitted to Problems of Tribology must present original scientific results that have not been previously published and are not under consideration by another journal.

Authors must ensure that:

  • The manuscript corresponds to the scientific scope of the journal.

  • The research contains clearly formulated objectives, an appropriate methodology, reliable results, and scientifically justified conclusions.

  • All authors have made a substantial contribution to the research and have approved the final version of the manuscript.

  • All sources of information, previously published results, and relevant scientific publications are properly cited.

  • The manuscript complies with the journal's publication ethics and academic integrity requirements.

  • Any potential conflicts of interest are disclosed.

2. Manuscript Preparation

Manuscripts must be prepared in English and submitted electronically through the journal's Open Journal Systems (OJS) platform.

The manuscript should be prepared using Microsoft Word and follow the formatting requirements and manuscript template available on the journal's website.

The recommended structure of a research article includes:

  1. Title – a concise and informative description of the research.

  2. Authors and affiliations – full author names, institutional affiliations, and contact information.

  3. Abstract – a summary of the research objectives, methods, principal results, and conclusions.

  4. Keywords – terms reflecting the main scientific content of the manuscript.

  5. Introduction – background, relevance of the research problem, review of relevant publications, and identification of the research gap.

  6. Materials and Methods – description of materials, experimental procedures, theoretical models, numerical methods, and analytical approaches.

  7. Results and Discussion – presentation, interpretation, and scientific discussion of the obtained results.

  8. Conclusions – the principal findings, scientific contributions, and potential practical applications.

  9. References – a complete list of sources cited in the manuscript.

The manuscript structure may be adjusted where appropriate to reflect the nature of the research.

3. Scientific Content and Quality

Submitted manuscripts should demonstrate scientific novelty, methodological reliability, and relevance to current developments in tribology and related engineering disciplines.

Authors are encouraged to provide:

  • A clear explanation of the scientific problem and research objectives.

  • A critical analysis of relevant international scientific literature.

  • Detailed descriptions of experimental equipment, materials, and testing conditions.

  • Mathematical models, numerical simulations, or experimental procedures sufficient to ensure reproducibility.

  • Quantitative analysis of results, including measurement uncertainty or statistical evaluation where appropriate.

  • Comparison of the obtained results with previously published findings.

  • Discussion of the scientific significance and potential engineering applications of the results.

All figures, tables, equations, and references must be clearly presented and appropriately cited in the manuscript.

4. Figures, Tables, and References

Figures and tables must be numbered consecutively and referred to in the text. Illustrations should have sufficient resolution to ensure clear reproduction in the published article.

Equations should be prepared using an appropriate equation editor and numbered where necessary.

References must be accurate, complete, and formatted according to the journal's requirements. Authors should include DOI identifiers where available.

The reference list should reflect the current state of research and include relevant publications from international scientific journals.

Authors are responsible for the accuracy of bibliographic information and the correct attribution of all cited materials.

5. Publication Ethics and Academic Integrity
